Historical Walk in Old Park and Chequers Wood
Join the Friends of Old Park & Chequers Wood for a guided walk to hear about the history of the site and explore its many attractions. The story will begin with the prehistoric people who lived here 700,000 years ago, and will take in the monks and the medieval water supply, the mysterious Reed Pond, the Site of Special Scientific Interest, Henry VIII’s royal hunting park, the history of the golf course and the secret military defences in World War II. We will also be talking about the future of the park and its conservation and protection. Paths may be muddy and some are steep, so please wear boots or sturdy shoes. Numbers on the walk will be limited to 12.
Please, sign up with Jan Pahl: j.m.pahl@kent.ac.uk or phone 07775 746144 for information about the walk and the meeting place.
